The colour of the book reflect which stage of story it is.
The first stage is when Whalie was still in his planet so cold colours like blue, violet,.. are used as main colours to create the lonely feeling.
The second stage is when Whalie came to Earth so the colour palette have a bit more colours but still have of cold colours since Whalie still couldn’t find anyone listen to him.
The last stage is when Whalie met Will. Colours of this stage are fully bright and colourful to show how happy Whalie is.

Concept

This is a children book telling the story of a lonely creature who couldn’t be heard by anyone so he decided to go to another planet to find a place where he belongs. I focused of the illustrations more than the text so children can experie nce the story through the visual of the book instead of just reading the story. In addition, I also bring some of Vietnamese detail to bring traditional culture closer to the younger generation.
